5 Basement Wet Bar Design Trends for 2017

The year 2017 is really shaking things up when it comes to original wet bar design plans. Here are 5 things that we’ve noticed as the basement bar scene continues to evolve . . .

1. Wine Fridges

The days of single cabinet wine storage are gone. Modern wet bar design now calls for wine refrigerators to keep the chilled drinks flowing. Smaller wine fridge models seem to be more popular.

2. Go All Out

Modest “den” wet bar design ideas are outdated as high-end granite countertops and expensive wooden floors take the lead. The second most popular look is minimalist chic that has an emphasis on base cabinets and neutral color schemes

3. Say it With Mosaics

Your wet bar design could include a mosaic accent wall for a bold and artistic look that simply screams “stand here and chat”. Tiled flooring is also now an excellent method to subtly delineate the wet bar space from the rest of the room.

4. Recreational Focus

Installing a wall-mounted HDTV and adding a surround sound system is one of the most practical trends for 2017. If real bars can do it, why can’t you? It’s perfect for playing soft music or watching the big game.

5. A Family Space

A wet bar can easily become a family-friendly area when not entertaining guests. Many homeowners have lowered countertops and a microwave for popcorn. Why not keep a few board games in the cabinet for rainy day?
